I was in 2nd grade when I drew my first portrait. Our assignment each Friday, was to copy an 8″x10″ print of one of the old Masters like Rembrandt or Degas, with Crayola crayons. One day the assignment was ‘Boy with the Torn Hat’ by Thomas Sully. I vividly remember the feeling I had that I understood how to shade a nose, a mouth and eyes. ‘I’ve done this before’ I thought, and found in some way, I had found my ‘niche’.
In high school I studied traditional portrait painting with the portrait artist Lester Bentley. Lester had studied portrait painting with Robert Henri, the renowned New York artist and teacher of the Ashcan School of American realism. Robert Henri was known for capturing the essence or Spirit of the subject rather than a detailed rendering.
“Paint the flying Spirit of the bird, rather than its feathers.”
~Robert Henri
I realized something else was happening when I painted. I later learned that I was simply ‘channeling’ energies via my artwork. To be honest, the whole thing frightened me as I thought I had no control over the results. I stopped painting for many years.
These early experiences led me to begin studying the spiritual truths of many different religions and Masters of life. They all seemed to have the same core belief…the belief in something greater than the physical existence. I came to understand that in reality, everything is energy and how energy works through the teachings of Dr. Francisco Coll, and the Wayshower’s College.
“We are what we think…not what we think we are.”
I realized that I could clear my own energy, and bring in the higher energies of the Master Souls, Spirit Guides, Angels and Beings of Light. I could relax and paint again. Intention is the KEY.
I offer Soul Portraits, Inner Child Portraits, Portraits of Deceased Loved Ones, and Spiritual Consultations. The Soul Portrait is basically a visual intuitive impression or reading of the subject. With the Spiritual Consultations, I assist in connecting you with your own personal team of Spiritual Helpers.
